Lawyer cricketers escape surgeon’s knife

The Lawyers XI beat the Doctors X1 by one wicket in their 13th annual Law-Medical 40 overs cricket encounter played at the SSC ground last Sunday (20).

The doctors batted first and were bowled out for 167 in 39 overs and the lawyers in their run chase escaped by the skin of their teeth as they reached the target by a hair’s breadth losing nine wickets in the process.

Akila Jayasundara of the Lawyers XI was adjudged the man of the match while ex-Sri Lankan player Jehan Mubarak was the chief guest at the awards ceremony.
