Dankotuwa Porcelain unveils new steam inhaler

Dankotuwa Porcelain introduced a new customised steam inhaler to the market recently.

Designed by Dr. Charith Nanayakkara who specialises in Neurosurgery, the modified steam inhaler is ideal for those affected by any respiratory tract infections, a company spokesman said.

Recently, Dankotuwa Porcelain donated inhalers to the Ministry of Health, Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Neville Fernando Hospital, Homagama Hospital, Kotelawala Defence Hospital, the Sri Lanka Navy and the quarantine centers. According to Dr. Nanayakkara, steam inhalation is a treatment method that has been used for over a thousand years in Ayurvedic and Western medicine.?

For patients with chest infection, steam inhalation is prescribed twice a day.

However, this frequency can be adjusted according to needs. Naked steam is best. Sometimes menthol is used.

This is to make steaming more pleasant rather than for significant therapeutic benefit.
